Description

Paint, stain, or leave it like it is because it will look great either way.  As a bonus, it keeps you from having a tangled pile of fishing rods.

These are CNC milled from domestic plywood, and come with pilot holes pre-drilled for the rod clips, so there won’t be any trouble spacing them out.

Be sure and check out the video (coming soon) because there are some other things you need to know before you buy.  If you want to skip the video, see the information below for the “Things you need to know“.

Things you need to know

These are a rough cut product, meaning I don’t sand the tool marks out of the wood.  This is because it’s almost impossible to get all of the tool marks out of the small detail areas, and when you sand the open areas, it gives the milled background an “uneven” look.  Also, the cores in plywood are a lesser grade of wood than the face, so even if I were able to sand it all, it would still look rustic by its nature.

Having said that, no one has ever walked up to one of these and said “Look at those tool marks”.  Most people take a picture and forward it to someone that they believe would really love to have one of their own.

Another “need to know” is that these have some weight to them. so it’s best to put at least one screw into a stud.  I just don’t recommend only using wall anchors because even inexpensive rods can add up if this were to fall because a wall anchor failed.

Lastly, these are plywood, and splinters are a real possibility, so I recommend gloves while installing.  Even so, I am also admitting to myself that I won’t wear gloves when I do it, so if you are like me, then at very least, proceed with caution.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that 6 rods with reels can be a tight fit depending on your setup.  I had considered dropping the number down to 5, but decided that I would rather have a spot that I didn’t use, but still have the option for 6 rods if I needed it.  In other words, you can’t get 6 rods on a 5 rod rack, but you can put 5 on a 6 rod rack, so 6 won the day.

If you have read down to here, hopefully you have decided to buy, so enjoy your rod rack!
